the ti leaf carries religious and decorative purposes in hawaii. it was used to wrap offerings to the gods. it is believed to carry powers of protection if planted around a home or fashioned into a bracelet or necklace, it will protect the wearer. ti leaves are used to make hula skirts, the traditional hawaiian dance. ancient hawaiians also used wove the ti leaf to make footwear.
